Dear CDHEA Members,
Happy New Year! This is my second President’s Message regarding our upcoming
CDHEA Meeting. I am writing to notify you of a schedule and speaker change for our
meeting. I am happy to announce that our Keynote Speakers will be, Dr. Jane Forrest
and Ms. Syrene Miller.
Dr. Forrest is the Chair of Behavioral Sciences at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in Los Angeles, CA, and the Director of the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research & Practice. Ms. Miller is the Project Manager for the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research & Practice.
The topic will be Using the Mind, Not Just the Memory. As you may have experienced, a current challenge to educators is the changing methodologies that must be used to engage millennial learners. On Saturday, we will learn how to structure effective strategies that can be used in courses throughout the dental hygiene curriculum to promote learning for millennial learners and beyond. Dr. Forrest and Ms. Miller are both highly respected authors and speakers who are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise on this subject. Our table topics have been moved to Sunday morning. It will begin after the Business Meeting concludes at 9:15am. Diane Melrose will be personally contacting the facilitators to confirm their topics and times.
Please go to our website, CDHEA.org. for further information. A total of 8 hours of CE units will be offered for the two days of participation. I look forward to meeting you!
