Dr. Angela Hoppe Nagao has been a full-time community college faculty member for over 20 years. She has a doctorate in Educational Leadership and her research specialty is cultural intelligence and conflict management within the context of culturally diverse community colleges. She has a MA in Speech from CSU Fullerton with an emphasis in Intercultural Communication. Angela began her work in cultural competency over 20 years ago, designing cultural competency training programs for education and business. She has provided cultural intelligence workshops for numerous community colleges and delivered presentations for groups such as the Association of California Community College Administrators. On campus, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Speech Department Chair, Vice-President of the Faculty Senate, Learning Communities Coordinator, Chair of the Technology Based-Learning Committee, and member of the Student Equity and Guided Pathways Taskforce. In 2012, she received the Most Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award. She has certifications to train in Cultural Intelligence, Unconscious Bias, and Conflict Mediation. She conducts training in the areas of cultural intelligence, leadership development, conflict management, and communication for student engagement.
