Application For CDHEA Event Planner

The meeting Event Planner is dedicated to planning meetings and events for the Annual sessions. This event planner will have the responsibility of strategic relationship management, and execution of various events and meetings, and is required to sit on the Executive Board without voting rights. The Event Planner will provide thoughtful leadership and strategic direction toward event planning and working with the Executive Board on the Members behalf, hotel sites and corporate sponsors to ensure successful business outcomes. This position functions as the primary client liaison and the lead for the annual event programs. Responsible for coordination of all program execution from beginning to end including policy adherence, event registration, sourcing, contracting, negotiating, legal, risk, insurance if required, event weekend management, planning, logistics, management of multiple 3rd parties as a positive representation of corporate exhibitors, all while providing unparalleled levels of customer service on all event programs. Works closely with multiple presenters/member contacts to understand and meet program objectives/outcomes. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, the ability to make others feel at ease, has a strong grasp of business/social etiquette and is a self-starter with project management, meetings management and experience at all levels. Must be a CDHEA member.

  • Meeting planning skills are required
  • Experience working with hotel/restaurant venues
  • Expertise in food and hospitality services
  • Experience in planning high quality meetings/events at various venues
  • Strong relationship with hoteliers
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of event management, presenters, and association members
  • Appearance needs to always be neat and professional
  • Understanding of current business and social etiquette
  • Ability to work accurately and timely – in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible and handle change well
  • Analytical skills required
  • Microsoft Word expertise
  • Experience with meeting industry technology a plus
  • Advanced oral and written presentation skills required
  • Ability to travel domestically
